Our Flamenco teachers are first-class flamenco professionals who have vast teaching experience and therefore know the best ways to transmit their techniques.
ROSA ZÁRATE.- Flamenco Dance teacher.
Rosa was born and bred in Granada. She showed a flair for dance at the age of three and by the time she was six she was participating in Flamenco Festivals. She has shared the stage with other esteemed artists such as Fosforito, Pepe y Juan “El Habichuela”, José Meneses, Enrique Morente, El Cabrero, etc.
In 2002 she created the Zárate Flamenco Company. They have performed in theatres all over Spain and have taken part in the Brno Music Festival.
She has performed alongside well-known personalities such as Rafael Alberti, Manuel Benítez Carrasco and the conductor Miguel Ángel Martín.
She has performed in Japan, Korea, London, Sweden, Switzerland, Finland, Alaska and Denmark. She has appeared on both national and international television programmes and has done studio recordings.
She has also given classes at the University of Granada as part of the “Flamenco at University” project.
CARLOS ZÁRATE.- Flamenco Guitar teacher.
Carlos learnt to play the flamenco guitar at the tender age of twelve, demonstrating considerable talent. It was on the strength of this talent that he became the official guitarist at the ‘Conservatorio Superior de Danza’ Dance Academy in Granada between 1990 and 1997. He has recorded 16 albums and has written three books about Flamenco and the guitar, most notably “El cementerio de los hombres sin nombre” (The cemetery of nameless men). He has worked alongside the likes of Enrique Morente, Camarón de la Isla, Fosforito, Niña de la Puebla, Manolo Escobar, José Mercé, Sara Baras, María del Monte, Alska, Nacha Guevara, Marifé de Triana, etc. He has performed in Belgium, Germany, France, Mauritania, Switzerland, Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Norway. He has appeared in several documentaries and has been given awards by countless Andalusian Flamenco Associations. He also has vast teaching experience.
SENSI MARTOS.- Box Drum, Clapping and Flamenco Song teacher.
Sensi has perfomed with José Mercé and Moraito. She has taken part in various Flamenco Festivals in Granada and collaborated with the coreography of “the Cuban Spanish Ballet”. She worked with the British writer Robin Totton in a recording at the “Music for the Marginalised” Studio edited in the United States.
She has been on different TV programmes and has featured in the media both in Spain and abroad.
Sensi formed the Zárate Flamenco Company and has performed in numerous theatres and international festivals.
In 2004 she opened the “Escuela Superior de Arte Flamenco” Flamenco Academy. As well as running the academy, she teaches all the disciplines relating to the art of Flamenco.
